In celebration of the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, SPI employee volunteers together with SPI Power students conducted a mangrove planting activity held recently in Barangay Silad, one of SPI’s key environmental partner communities.
With the activity theme “Together We Plant for the Future We Want,” the event aimed to raise awareness on the critical role of mangroves in climate resilience and coastal protection while actively engaging youth and employees in environmental stewardship.
The planting site forms part of SPI’s 2.2 hectare mangrove protected area adopted by SPI for its community-based Marine Resource Development Program in Sugbongcogon, under the company’s long-running Environmental Conservation (ECo) Program. The initiative not only contributes to shoreline stabilization and biodiversity enhancement but also supports local communities in protecting natural resources.
The activity reflects SPI’s shared commitment to restoring vital ecosystems and educating the next generation about sustainability. SPI’s continued investment in mangrove rehabilitation highlights the company’s dedication to responsible and community-driven environmental action.
