SPI cited as outstanding partner in promoting literacy

The Department of Education – Region 10 cited the offices of the Provincial Governor & Vice Governor of Misamis Oriental, and energy-firm STEAG State Power Inc. (SPI) for supporting the government’s thrust of providing all Filipinos the opportunity to have access to and complete basic education through the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Program.

ALS is a parallel learning system in the Philippines that provides a practical option to Filipinos who do not have a chance to attend and finish formal basic education due to many reasons. DepEd cited LGU Misor and Steag for their “exemplary performance, unparalleled dedication, and outstanding achievements in the promotion of the government’s literacy program among the marginalized populace of the community.”

The award was presented during the 2019 ALS Summit and Kumustahan held recently in Cagayan de Oro City.
