SPI boosts local development projects in Villanueva

SPI recently provided financial support by turning over a check totaling PHP 3.3 million to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Villanueva, Misamis Oriental. This contribution aims to fund various development programs and projects in the municipality.

This assistance is part of the benefits granted to the municipality for hosting SPI’s Mindanao Power Plant under the Department of Energy’s ER 1-94 program.

Since the start of SPI’s power plant operations, Villanueva, along with its host barangays, has received a cumulative total of PHP 68,127,838 for programs related to local development, livelihood improvement, income generation, health, water systems, and environmental protection and conservation. Additionally, electrification projects totaling PHP 15,757,581 have been successfully implemented, achieving the town’s 100% sitio-level rural electrification.

Villanueva’s Vice Mayor, Jeric Emano, and other local officials received the check from SPI. Emano expressed gratitude for SPI’s consistent support in the development of Villanueva. He highlighted the significance of the recent release of ER 1-94 shares, emphasizing its substantial impact on current initiatives like the LGU public market improvement, installation of solar-powered street lights, and solid waste management enhancements.
