Helping the youth understand sexual purity

In a society that promotes a culture of getting whatever we want whenever we want it, young people are becoming more and more vulnerable to distorted messages about love and purity that eventually traps them to social ills like teenage pregnancies.

According to the Population Commission, 24 babies are born to teenage mothers every hour in the Philippines. The alarming cases of adolescent pregnancies consequently host a wide array of related societal problems like child wasting, malnutrition, and poverty.

For this reason, SPI has partnered with the Youth Ministry of the Golden City Alliance Fellowship (GCAF), and the Department of Education for a one-day enrichment session entitled True Love Waits (TLWs). The activity aims to protect young people, especially its power students, from the twisted notions of love, dating, and sex, and help them understand these issues through the lens of the scripture.

Now on its fourth year, SPI hosts learning sessions for the youth like TLWs as part of SPI’s holistic CSR approach in youth development.
