Encouraging future tech innovators

SPI organized recently an IT education scholarship program orientation for Grade 11 and 12 Youth from Villanueva.  Facilitated by Passerelles numériques Philippines, more than a hundred participants attended the half-day activity held at the Bongloy Hall of Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.

Passerelles numériques (PN) is a French Non-governmental organization created in 2005 in Cambodia. The organization later expanded its actions and now operates in Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines. It works to provide disadvantaged youth the training to become professionals in the IT sector.

Every year, the PN Program selects talented and motivated youth from Visayas and Mindanao. This year, prospective scholars from Villanueva were invited to join the 2.5 year education program at the University of San Carlos in Cebu and train students on IT specialization.

As a partner of Passerelles numériques Philippines, SPI intends to provide support by expanding its existing Power Students Award Program to include qualified applicants from Villanueva to join the program as PN scholars. This forms part of SPI’s Social Empowerment through Education (SEEd) Program designed to help provide developmental opportunities for the learning continuity of students in its community.
